This may be the first time you have ever heard of the town Tvarditsa. It happens to be one of those little jewels that time has forgotten, the tour guides and brochures seem to overlook, but if you are thinking of visiting Tvarditsa for a short break, or even a longer stay, you may just be surprised at what this little town, nestled into the mountains has to offer. Over the next pages, hopefully the information here,(please click on the pictures for more info) will help to correct that, and show you what can be found, and enjoyed in this tranquil place. So if being captivated/consumed by nature, relaxing and travelling back in time is your thing, then this is the place for you.

An ideal location for short breaks, or those longer stays, with plenty to do all year round with the Balkan mountains and the reservoir Jebrechevo literally on your doorstep.

 

There is something for everyone, hiking, biking, boating, fishing and skiing to name just a few, and that is just in the direct vicinity of Tvarditsa. You will also find very close, by and easy to get to by bus, car or train a lot of Bulgaria’s History.

The great thing about Tvarditsa, even though it is only small, it is a town.

 

 

When you are here, you will find it has everything you need for a holiday, but even if you decide to take the plunge, that living the country or mountain life is for you, it has everything to offer for a very comfortable life style. 

TVARDITSA is located at the southern foot of the Elena-Tvarditsa Stara Planina at the outlet of Tvarditsa Pass and the northern end of the Tvarditsa valley at a height of about 300 meters. Tvardishki passage that passes through the valley of the River Tvardishka, remarkable for its whimsical meanders, is the shortest mountain passage between North and South Bulgaria - the distance between the towns of Tvarditsa and Elena is 40 km.

The Sredna Gora Area, a low-mountain hilly area with a pronounced central ridge of the Sredna Gora Mountain. The Plain Area, the Tvarditsa Hollow (250 m above sea level), is enclosed between the steep slopes of the Balkan on the north and the slanting slopes of the Sredna Gora Mountain to the south. The lowest point is situated in the valley of the Tundja River - 205 metres, and the highest point is the Choumerna Summit - 1 536 metres.
